Butte Canyon Bridge Construction
Summary
As part of the I-5 North County Enhancements Project, Metro’s contractor OHLA-USA, will be extending the existing Butte Canyon I-5 bridge between Pico Canyon Rd/Lyons Av and McBean Pkwy, to accommodate the new high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes along the I-5.
Construction will take place along the center median and outside shoulders at Butte Canyon bridge. Activities will include soil backfill, pouring of the bridge barrier, and approach slab work approach slab.
This bridge extension is anticipated to be substantially completed by the end of March 2024.
What to Expect

Day work behind k-rail at the center median and shoulders for approach slab and barrier work.

Night work utilizing lane closures between 8pm and 6am.
Essential Details

Work hours: Monday through Friday and Saturdays as needed, between 7am-4pm and 7pm-6am. Crews will begin to mobilize at 6am.

All lanes will reopen by before peak traffic hours each morning.

No lane closures will be implemented during morning or evening peak traffic hours.

Speed limit within construction zone will change to 55-miles per hour.
