Temporary Removal of Fire Hydrant: Wilshire Bl between Westwood Bl and Gayley Av
Summary
Metro contractors will remove a fire hydrant on the northside of Wilshire Bl between Westwood Bl and Gayley Av. This work in in preparation for the Westwood/UCLA Station. The fire hydrant will be reinstalled in Fall 2022. There will be one day of work on the fire hydrant, and then one week for restoration and re-stripping activities will be completed.
Work has been coordinated with the LA Fire Department and LA Department of Water and Power. Impacted buildings have been informed and will have fire watch on Friday, July 22 from 12am to 4am.

Work hours: 11pm to 6am
Traffic Control:

Two westbound lanes on Wilshire Bl will be restricted between Glendon Av and Veteran Av. Traffic for westbound Wilshire Bl will be reduced to one lane. -
Two southbound lanes on Westwood Bl will be restricted between Lindbrook Dr and Wilshire Bl. Vehicles will be able to make right hand and left hand turns at the intersection. One thru lane will be open for southbound vehicles on Westwood Bl. -
The southbound Gayley Av right turn pocket between Lindbrook Dr and Wilshire Bl will be closed.

All work will receive necessary permits and approvals. -
Access to driveways, residences & businesses will always be maintained unless notified in advance. -
Access for pedestrians will be maintained outside of construction zones. -
Access for the Fire Department and emergency responders will be maintained.

Parking restrictions will be implemented in the immediate area of the work zone. -
